The 5th UNI Europa Regional Conference opens

Unions representing 7 million service sector workers from across Europe are coming together for the first virtual edition of the UNI Europa Regional Conference. Their rallying call is ‘forward through collective bargaining’.

Over 900 delegates and trade union guests will be attending the online event, which is hosted by UNI-affiliated unions from the three trade union families of Belgium. Pierre-Yves Dermagne, Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, will address participants for the opening ceremony.

The conference is the highest UNI Europa statutory event. Delegates will determine their joint priorities for the next four years and elect the organisation’s leadership. In the build up, affiliated unions have provided numerous contributions to shaping the content.

Three key axes for reinforcing collective bargaining have emerged: organising, EU policies and coordinating within multinationals. These will feature prominently in exchanges over the next three days.

You can follow developments via #UNIeuropaFWD and watch the conference live on the conference website and on our Facebook page.
