Amazon AWS workers in Belgium elect trade union representatives

Amazon Web Services (AWS) employees in Belgium have successfully won seats in the recent social elections, paving the way for the establishment of a collective bargaining process for the first time. This significant development marks a important moment in the pursuit of enhanced social dialogue for Amazon, and its AWS subsidiary’s employees in the region.

UNI affiliates ACV Puls and BBTK – SETCa supported the AWS employees in their successful elections. The results reflect the strong desire among employees for a voice at work at the world’s sixth largest company. The newly elected worker representatives will now begin to address the most pressing issues on behalf of their colleagues.

“This development is a clear message that employees are determined to engage in a constructive and fruitful social dialogue” said Hans Elsen, National Secretary of ACV Puls. “We will continue to support them in their efforts to have their voices heard.” “Our support for the employees at Amazon is unwavering. This win is a testament to their unity and strength,” stated Johan Van Eeghem, Head of international affairs of BBTK – SETCa.

“We congratulate our Belgian colleagues for what they have achieved and look forward to the positive changes this campaign will bring,” Oliver Roethig, Regional Secretary of UNI Europa said. “The success in Belgium is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when employees stand together. This success will undoubtedly energise other Amazon employees globally who are standing up for their rights.”
