Essential workers rally in Brussels for better pay and conditions through EU procurement reform



Today, 1,000 essential workers – cleaners, security guards and food service employees – from nine European countries rallied in Brussels, demanding that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen act to improve pay and conditions for millions of workers through procurement reform.

In an open letter coordinated by UNI Europa and released today, more than 100 world-leading economists, including Isabella Weber, Thomas Piketty and Ann Pettifor, support essential workers’ call for EU public procurement rules which improve pay and conditions
