Collective bargaining is of central importance for ensuring decent pay, quality working conditions and workers’ say in companies. For this reason, the EU decided that countries where less than eight in ten employees are covered by a collective agreement should make national action plans to increase coverage to at least 80 per cent.
One necessary condition for reaching 80 per cent collective bargaining coverage is multi-employer or sectoral bargaining. UNI Europa therefore launches a new project focusing on increasing the capacity of trade unions in multi-employer bargaining: Level-Up II.
Building on the work in the previous Level-Up I project, this project will focus on:
- researching existing obstacles to collective bargaining practices in targeted service sectors,
- co-creating innovative trade union strategies focused on how to maintain and develop multi-employer and sectoral collective bargaining,
- monitoring the implementation of national action plans on collective bargaining in the services sector,
- developing strategies to engage multinational companies in sectoral bargaining.
The project will run from April 2025 to March 2027 and is co-funded by the European Union (101191989).
The project is coordinated by Stan De Spiegelaere, UNI Europa Policy and Research Director.
